Canary Systems develops and sells monitoring solutions for civil engineering applications. The following e-newsletter will provide more information regarding the products and technologies that we have developed and are in use at over 600 projects world-wide.
Project 16: New York City Water Supply Reservoir
Project 17: Earth Pressure Balance TBM Monitoring
We’ve been hard at work adding features to our software and improving their functionality and reliability. A brief summary of these improvements:
We’ve gotten our on-line activation system completed. Once you’ve registered your software, either by contacting us directly or through the software itself, you can activate your software automatically through your Internet connection!
You can now configure and collect data from your Kinemetrics recorders, this includes processing the .EVT files and importing them into your MultiLoggerDB database if appropriate.
We’ve made a number of interface improvements recently in addition to adding support for up to 4 Y axes, adding “running” functions such as RunSum, RunAvg, RunMax and RunMin, a date/time picker for the formula editor and many more.
We've added a Configure Users form which provides for configuring 4 different access levels to the MultiLoggerDB SQL database. This access is automatically managed based on the user's login and this applies whether running MLDBConsole, Insite, MLWeb or third-party SQL database tools. The access levels supported include Administrator, Project Manager, Technician and Guest. They provide varying levels of access to the projects and data, beginning with simple viewing (Guest) to database management including backup and restore (Administrator).
Many improvements in the last year including the ability to present dynamic event data such as recorded by a seismic recorder or high-speed data collection platform. New Project Status form to provide import feedback for all active projects and new Data Update and Project Update notifications. Now you can be automatically notified when a project or specific data element doesn’t send data at its prescribed interval. A new output type was added called Element Chart which has several uses including presenting historical data compared to current data or presenting horizontal or vertical borehole inclinometer data. New aggregate functions have been added including functions to output hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly averages, maximums, minimums and sums. New “running” functions to output running averages, maximums, minimums and sums. Many other improvements not listed.
As we make improvements to our “offline” client tools we carry these enhancements over to MLWeb. We’ve developed a “tab control” into MLWeb to provide easy and quick access to these features. We’ve added tabs for easy viewing and acknowledging of Project Update or Data Update alarms, as well as Project Status. Three data entry forms also provide 3 methods for viewing and entering data via the Internet which allows for field technicians to easily update their project database when outside the office. DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEMS AND SOFTWARE FOR DEMANDING ENVIRONMENTS SINCE 1997
MLWeb represents the latest advancement of our software system, it essentially consists of "bridging" software that interfaces the latest .NET web functionality from Microsoft with our MultiLoggerDB system. This provides a way for the end-users to manage their systems using MultiLogger, to automate the collection of data using the Agent feature and then to create and manage the database project using our standard MultiLoggerDB software components, including the Database Console and Insite. MLWeb then interfaces the Windows Server machine with the database to provide the interface that the user has developed, including project views, sensor locations, current readings, and pre-programming outputs that include columnar reports, charts and Microsoft Excel based spreadsheets. With an appropriate server and connectivity it allows for easy, secure, cost-effective web based data access deployment.
